The system wasn't doing too well on its own, I note. Do all such injustices get volunteers, do you suppose? That reminds me of a joke I heard in my southern childhood. It was told with an African-American accent and was racist in spirit and delivery, but had a point nonetheless. An old black man was working on a garden he had cultivated in a disreputable vacant lot. A priest walked by and, impressed at the abundance of beautiful produce, said, "Joseph, you and God have done a great thing here!" To which Joseph replied, and I'm removing the accent, "Yes sir, boss, but you should have seen it when God was working on it by himself."
