Nuclear power can operate for 1000 years without an accident. Then one day you have a catastrophic accident. The results will outweigh (negatively) the benefits that the previous 1000 years offered.

I don't like nuclear power either, I think the money that was spent on it, had it been spent trying to develop solar power, we may have discovered a way to make solar efficient by now.

enigma, when I give my opinion that's based upon my engineering experience and training, truth in disclosure requires me to state that it is my opinion based upon my engineering experience and training. If you have a problem with that, then you have a problem. My comments were to express my far more optimistic opinions on Nuclear Power and that my thoughts are based upon engineering analysis.

Enigma, I have a high opinion of much of what you have posted.

Also many of the really really retarded vacant liberal minded lefty loons get livid as no engineers share their stupid opinions. So my use of the term engineer is to tweak them off.

Now you expressed concern about things nuclear. Well everyday you body is exposed to all kinds of nuclear radiation and the human race has evolved with it. Now consider all the new chemicals man is introducing into the environment in just the last several decades. Now consider all alternative power sources need batteries or some form of storage. I do wonder what is the chemistry of all that stuff that would be spread out over acres and acres and how much of it will end up leaching into the environment.

I like nukes. All the high level waste to date would create a 15 foot high pile the size of a football field. Stick in a salt mine and I figure that's quite save.

Now the keyboard you type on and the screen you look at are there because engineers know how to use a slide rule and a whole lot more. Do you know how to use a slide rule? Do really have any understanding of all the technology the makes your life easier every day. This engineer does.

And my sliderule works just fine in the rain and even underwater in the ocean. My calculator does also, well down to thirty five feet that I tested, anyway. How about your calculor?
