They can't save the policemen from death, since they are already dead. So I would guess they say prayers for such people, and spend their lives protecting the living. The fact that they might focus their energies on the living doesn't strike me as hypocritical or uncaring, for example I doubt most nuns go to pray where aborted fetuses are dumped- but they DO go hang around outside abortion clinics. Do they lack compassion for those nameless fetuses, because they don't track them down and go pray over them? No. I don't think so. They are trying to save the living- I am sure they say general prayers for the dead.

Of course I'm not religious, I've never been religious, and I haven't hung around with Catholics since I was a little kid. I would think you might know more about nuns than I do. I've just seen a few here and there at certain protests against the death penalty and against abortion. So although I guessed my best guess, I could be wrong.

But it doesn't matter about the names. IMO. You either have compassion for all men and women or you don't. And I think, or I should say I guess, that many nuns try to have compassion for all men and women, regardless of what they have done, and regardless of what their names are. You might want to think about that, before you answer this.
