I don't think that church doctrine is to be "non judgmental". It is rather to "hate the sin and love the sinner". The sin is still judged as being wrong and the sinner is still told to "go and sin no more". Of course in this case it isn't just a sin its a crime so the church should have given the information it had to the civil authorities in a timely manner ("render on to Caesar...")
