Tony,

2 flavors of new Xeons, and McKinley based servers will be out also, or very well along in development. They'd like to reap some profits, so will they start anew on Hammer based?

The way HP and Compaq are reaping profits with Itanium, my guess is that they will have a temptation start "anew". Btw, they are starting anew all the time, from Coppermine to Cascades to Tualatin, to Foster, to Foster MP to Prestonia. What's the big deal?

Joe

Tony Re...Especially with the HP-Compaq merger, their marching orders will probably be to complete what they have, or combine similar servers, not start something brand new. <<<<<<

First off, on CNBC, several people have mentioned that no matter which way the vote goes, Carly would have a short future at HP. Secondly, while what you say will be true for the short term, it would be quite likely, HPQ will revamp the desktop, portables, and server lines, to show off the new HPQ. At the very least, rename and redesign some of the boxes immediately, upgrade the insides as time allows.
