Zeev....we could get a nice gap down tommorow followed by a sharp turn to the upside into month end....any thoughts.

That way they can load more shorts to squeeze for one last time.

Micron Technology, Inc., Reports Consolidated Results for the Second Quarter of Fiscal Year 2002

BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 2002--Micron Technology, Inc. (NYSE:MU - news), today announced a net loss for the second quarter of fiscal 2002 of $30 million, or $0.05 per diluted share, on net sales of $646 million. These results compare to a net loss of $266 million, or $0.44 per diluted share, on net sales of $424 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2002 and a net loss from continuing operations of $4 million, or $0.01 per diluted share, on net sales of $1,066 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2001.

Net sales in the second quarter of fiscal 2002 were 52% higher compared to the first quarter of fiscal 2002 as a result of an approximate 70% increase in average selling prices for the Company's products, partially offset by an approximate 10% decrease in megabit shipments. The Company's finished goods inventories declined significantly during the quarter, and reached minimum levels at quarter end. Megabit production in the second quarter of fiscal 2002 was approximately 30% lower than the first quarter, attributable to the Company's efforts to reduce its manufacturing cycle times and the effects of scheduled holiday downtime.

The Company ended its second quarter of fiscal 2002 with approximately $1.5 billion in cash and liquid investments..................

Zeev: If that was a "bottom" and looking at the broader market, I expect a minor new high in the SPX to come before month's end.

The island reversal on the Nasdaq should be good for some resistance. So I am thinking more along the lines of a double local top at 1950 at best unless we get some serious rotation and fast into the Nasdaq.

Re: "Maybe a run to 2050/90, another retreat with an "unsatisfactory" bottom at let say, 1950, followed by a run from about 1950 to 2250?"

I don't see that one now. I think the market is running on fumes here and the bulls get one more bite at the apple at best before the bears take control.

Everyone is going to focus on this one statement from MU. We have not gotten guidance for next quarter..but does it really when they much such a statement.
Of course guidance and Hynix will be a big factor as well.

The Company's finished goods inventories declined significantly during the quarter, and reached minimum levels at quarter end.
