Joe, you did not understand what you read. I did not deny the possibility of harm. I used an example of another equally remote possibility. And if you donot understand the fact that a 747 could not even penetrate a concrete building like the pentagon, then maybe you mistake what I say as sarcasm. I wonder with all your fears and risk aversion. Do you allow a car to be parked within a 1/4 mile of your house. Also turn off all electricity right now.

Batteries are safe but full of nasty polluting chemicals. It is also obvious to me that you will not use or even allow a microwave oven in your house. Better make sure the nearest house with one is 100 yards away. Be save make that 300 yards.

I don't or have not done simulations of nuclear whatever. But I read numerical risk assessments. You still also don't understand that humankind has evolved exposed to radiation. But all the complex chemistry of modern times are creating chemicals more persistent with no decay times. What effect this has on the biosphere and what the long term effects of distribution thousands of tons of alternative energy stuff containing who knows what chemicals is a wild ass guess. But I have described and quantified the waste of nuclear power. I believe it would be dangerous for a few hundred years before the radiation level returned natural levels for the materials.

I donot fear a great nuclear calamity. Reactors in America would not create massive wide spread radiation like the Russian bomb because they are build in a completely different manner.

here's some reading material.
