No, no, you're not allowing for the difference between the US and Israel. The US is the world's sole superpower, those who hate us will carp and spew in their own papers, but there is little they can do. Israel, on the other hand, is the small democracy that all the world loves to hate. Israel would never be allowed to revoke any rights of Palestine without incurring full diplomatic wrath for its "unjust aggression against its neighbor". The same world that refuses to cut Israel the least amount of slack for dealing with a nasty terrorist campaign from a Palestinian Authority that has broken every agreement it ever signed.
