Philly Fed index drops Declines in inventories were not as large this month, and firms' forecasts suggest an expansion of inventories in the near term. New orders are not matching firms' optimism about growth, and some see the anticipated expansion slowing. I am glad to have some confirmation of my weekly estimates which have been showing the economy slowing in recent weeks.
