Excellent question. I wish I knew the answer. Have you done any search engine work?

Looks like AMAT splits mark tops. Worked in 97 and March 2000 ......

==========

I have to admit that despite the lack of any real good news in tech, this bounce looks like it has a fair chance despite futures being down thus far.

Volume has been decreasing throughout this drop and spiked up a bit today as the reversal occurred. MU is bouncing off a support line, SUNW has reached its support line and numerous other charts are at supports or fib levels again. QLGC is acting in accordance with the predictive chart I drew as a lark too with no preset upper tine. -gggg- I am trying one as of tonight on the NYSE to see if I can get lucky twice. -ggg- The best part of today's rally is how broad based it was. Almost every tech stock was up today, no matter where I look, it seemed to have a green candle and many were close to bullish engulfings or else were tweezer bottoms. If this is a fake, it is doing a good job.

Bond rates formed gravestone dojis today hinting at a reversal down in rates so that is a bit of a concern and Gold is still strong.

No one is saying much about it but fuel prices are still inching up and we need to keep an eye on this as Oil is pushing up near 26 a barrel though no one expects it to keep going when Russia increases production come April. If oil doesn't drop however, can we take another energy shock just as we are coming out of this economic slow down?

Fleck's comments to Herb Greenberg on MU's CC (from RealMoney.com):
Just off the phone with fellow columnist Fleckenstein on the Mighty Micron, as he calls it, and his read: "Stinks." (He has no position in this stock, by the way.) Revenues missed by around $20 million. To put that in perspective, he says, Dan Niles recently cut his numbers from $877 mil to $732 million; they came in at $646 million. Youch. "More importantly," Fleck says, "even though $646 million is up from $424 million last quarter, they still lost money. Get this: They said they are at minimal inventory levels; they had been telling people they had no inventory. So what number equates with 'minimal' and 'no?' That would be $547 million, or roughly one-quarter's worth of sales. And oh by the way, that's up from last quarter by nearly $100 million. But not to worry, average selling prices are up 70%, so units did decline slightly...BUT that's still a pathetic showing of where their true break even is. Lastly, they were crowing about the cash they have of $1.5 billion, but that's down a couple of hundred million from last quarter and receivables are up. Bottom line: At the end of every quarter they set the bar at one place; they race around with a week to go to get the analysts to lower the bar so they can step over, and they still always manage to screw it up. The only reason it's worth commenting on this is that it's the big-cap imagination stock; they don't sell DRAMS, they sell imagination." Oh, Bill, you're the dreamer. As if anybody will care! hg

Brook - disregard the jabs. Many of us find your humor refreshing while throwing out pearls. Critisism coming from someone that never makes a call until after a move unless it is so blatantly obvious everyone is already in it yet always proclaiming after the fact that everything has gone as he foresaw is comical. Especially when the times when he is pressed to make a call, he always has some other pressing work to do and will be unable to post. It was sneeky the first 5 times but became so obvious after two years of it I am surprised not everyone has figured it out yet.

I guess he finally made enough peddling that insurance a few months back to start trading again and has to stop by once in a while to throw some barbs out. For someone so critical, I have yet to see many posts about the market and see nothing but whining about how SI is unfair, how so many are screwed up yet nothing of value is put out by him other than repeats of the same old vague rules of trading that have been published in every trading manual since the beginning of time and posted on every site since the advent of the internet. Of course the big money is against the small trader, of course stops should be used, blah blah blah. He has already sworn that he would never post on SI again about 50 times so it is only a matter of time until he does so again. He will be gone soon and be back to gawking at his squirrel with envy soon for what he has been missing all his life. Maybe that is why he was so defensive and took offense to the CFZ guys making beastiality comments about sheep. Sheep and squirrels? -gggg-

Good Luck,

Lee
