This is 100% Grade A FUD. AMD and Intel always hype the hll out of their upcoming products. Intel did it with Merced. Intel did it with NetBurst. Intel is doing it with McKinley.* Nothing you say addresses my point. Sure Intel hypes their products but what I said was that AMD has no choice now because they're dead otherwise. If now, today, AMD knows hammer won't live up to promises they still have no choice whatsoever but to claim world leading performance because nothing else will keep those fish on the line and without those fish AMD might as well close the doors right now and go home. Any claim whatsoever short of "the fastest processor in the world" is death to AMD. Nobody will pay any attention to incompatable vapor that's already a year late and slipping if it's anything else but the greatest thing since sliced bread. Even that may not be enough. Hype is the only thing AMD has to sell cause they're holding on by their fingernails. EP
