While incredibly humorous the trouble with the comparison is that all the former high flyers listed by Cary (LU, NT, JDSU, CSCO, SUNW, ORCL, EMC, MOT,) is that none of them is anywhere near a $50 stock or even a semiconductor equipment company.

Isn't it possible that AMAT is splitting because an economic recovery is exactly what they believe is in the offing? Hasn't Agilent managed to maintain a healthy stock price as well. The action after hours tonight proves investors will buy a $50 stock just like they did during the bubble years.

They were buying it before the split was announced.

The real question is simply is AMAT right about the recovery? If they are isn't that good news for all the stocks slammed in Cary's post and even A as well? Yes all these stocks are overvalued today including A but what about a year from now?
