"But constantly asking for links to prove every assertion gets us nowhere, esp. because the links rarely server as proof anyway, they are either stats that could easily have been manipulated or some one else's opinion."

Exactly; and as I told you over and over, Tim. I was becoming tired of your continued insinuations that everything on a website that I had merely posted as a generalized group of stats was best characterized as MY conclusions, MY arguments, or whatever. It grew tiresome; and then it became irksome.

I entered this discussion with a few simple comments about being against the death penalty, and somewhere in the course of that I posted a simple link to someone for his interest. A link which was insignificant as regards the plethora of information on the web should anyone have a serious interest in child executions, or anything else.

You then began this tedious questioning of a simplistic website where you insisted on characterizing the author's reproduction of information (which probably came from a number of different sources) as MYpoints, conclusions, arguments, etc.--in spite of the fact that I had never mentioned them either before or after, except to attempt to deal courteously with your behaviour.

What could you have said if you were genuinely interested in something in particular that you were coming across on that link? Well, you might have said: "Hey, Solon. I went through that link you posted for JC., and I saw a couple of intesting stats. Did you see the one about blah blah and what do you think it might mean as regards blah blah."

I would have been happy to engage in such a discussion. But your use of "YOUR conclusions, arguments," etc., when what you meant was one or another statistic which you had come across on a link, which I had merely posted with the comment that it was interesting, were frankly--more than irksome, after awhile. I had done everything but spell it out for you, Tim.

For pities sake! Why would every flashcard on a link of information be the conclusion of the person who posted the bloody link?! Do you think I wish to argue 50 or 100 points at the same time just because they showed up on a web site?

If you want me to enter one of YOUR arguments, then OWN the damn argument...and invite me to take a position, or simply to share. You will find that I am very accomodating when people do not try to insinuate false premises through side doors, and when they act above board and with a modicum of respect for difference of opinion. I would find that preferable...
