OT-a reason for "no politics" (a lesson,so to speak). My thread discipline is "Who is Bush?" "Who is Daschle?" "i don't care". WBK you can not believe how fast a thread can be torn apart by political talk. It is so wastefull, and one of my favorite true stories that taught me a lot on this matter i now yap about:)
Henry "Hank" Fonda and Jimmy Stewart are recognized as one of the strongest friendships is Hollywood history. I saw Jimmy on a talk show near his death and one of his remarks that night was "I miss Hank".
Jimmy Stewart stalwart conservative Republican, Henry Fonda, left of center all his life.
Well here is the story as rendered by Jimmy.
They both started together as two young actors grubbing for a break in NYC, and they shared an apartment.
But whenever they started talking politics, blood pressure up, yell yell.
Well one day he and hank came to fisticuffs and the two of them ended up on floor wrestling and banging at each other.
Well they have a moment a clearheadedness and break apart and stand dusting themselves off.
Then Jimmy says "Hank you are my friend. I consider you my best friend but but we can't ever talk politics again. So i purpose we shake hands and promise never to talk politics again between us." They shook hands on it, and they never talked politics with each other again.
And were close friends for well over 40years after.
