I need to build another PC too. I'm leaning towards the new P4 A, 1.6 mhz with the new 512 cache. I may use the intel board too with DDR. I just need a solid rock stable platform. I'd go the PIII route but prices have not fallen enough to justify buying older technology. Any thoughts, PIII, P4, or Athlon?

Patricia

It's my understanding that the new level 2 cache (512) on the pentium 4 makes it on a par with the athlon processors. When I bought my current computer the p4 only had a 256 level 2 cache and the amd was the recommended choice. I went with an Athlon 1900 and am happy as a pig in slop. I'm thinking you will be very happy with either.
