JRI -- volume hasn't been impressive, it's true, and on this downleg it's declined, hasn't it? That would mean that this breakdown hasn't been confirmed. . . so we should expect a rally. Of course, the vix, valuations, the commercial short position and lots of other stuff argue against that. Mixed signals. About the VIX -- don't new lows beget new lows? Clearly it's in a downtrend, and if one treats it like a stock, you gotta look for signs the downleg is ending, don't you? Where are those signs? I'm starting to wonder if the VIX won't surprise us. . . until the day it finally doesn't, of course <g>. the freep
