Yes, the SDRAM MTH was precisely the reason that the 820 had to be cut down from 3 RIMMs to 2 at the last minute.

capt, Why the word spin? I was only pointing out the following : 1. They obtained a reputation for arrogance for a good reason. Even their lawyers were arrogant. 2. They have not done a good job at generating repeat business from customers. Consider : Nintendo & N64. Cirrus Logic & Laguna. Sony & PSX2. In fact, Intel after the PIII/820 disaster was an extremely loyal customer and introduced the P4/i850 pair. They had to provide rimm-rebates to drum up sales of P4. In spite of all these efforts, INTC mkt share went below 80% for the first time since the P55C was introduced. This was what changed their mind. When their core business suffers, everyone wakes up. It would be foolhardy to ignore what INTC's intentions are on moving forward. I'm 80% sure we can add intc to that list of ex-customers, and that was a relationship that took a long time to cultivate. Which is why, even though I think short term there might be great trading opportunities, the long term 12 month prognosis is not good. I think if the exit from the PC world is completed in 6 months, then confirmation of memory type from the ibm-PSX3 team will likely be not a good thing. Just think of it, there are a lot of PSX-2 boxes with ddr. What if no new high-vol system uses drdram in 2-3 yrs, what does the drdram royalty stream look like? However should the legal picture change, then I will change my mind. SbH
