"Oscar" is the top prize, coveted by people who act. People who live in a fantasy world. People who play dying people on the big screen but go home to their families each night. I am neither anti Hollywood, nor anti movies. Watching movies is a great escape for me and a hobby. I do find the behind the scenes stuff to be most disturbing and here is why... Look at the 'Movie Industry': "A Beautiful Mind" - Hollywood Style. A great movie, many think Russell Crowe will win an Oscar but look what has happened 'behind the scenes', behind the curtains, behind closed doors. A bunch of people trying to destroy the reputations of others because money, prizes, and attention are on the line. Bottom line, these people are ATTENTION ADDICTS! "Look at me! Look at me! See what I have done?" Compare that to the 'Cancer Industry': "A Beautiful Mind" - Folkman Style. A great science, many think Judah Folkman will win a Nobel Prize some day but look what has happened 'behind the scenes', behind the curtains, behind closed doors. A bunch of people trying to destroy the reputations of others because money, prizes, and attention are on the line. These people are ATTENTION ADDICTS! "Look at me! Look at me! See what I have done?" The people behind the scenes in Hollywood know that winning the Oscar could add $50 million to the bottom line and a place in the entertainment history. People behind the scenes in the Cancer Industry know that turning cancer into a chronic disease or cure is worth billions and a place in medical history. In Hollywood: ..the attention factor weighs heavily, rumors are flying that the "Moulin Rouge" people are spreading lies about the "Beautiful Mind" people? "Nash was bi-sexual" and "Nash's wife actually left him in real life" and "Nash cheated on all his tests in college." Just enough information is released to cast doubt on a person's character. In the Cancer Industry: ..the attention factor weighs heavily, rumors are flying that the Gene Therapy people are spreading lies about the Anti-Angiogenesis people? "All Folkman's experiments are failures" and "No one can duplicate Folkman's work" and "Folkman got a botched nose job" Just enough information is released to cast doubt on a person's character. I used to think the Movie Industry was totally whacked until I started researching the Cancer Industry. There is no contest, the "Golden Raspberry" hands down goes to the Cancer Industry, real life, real people dying, really appalling...but I wonder who is banging whom these days in the Cancer Industry?
