When I compare my bandwidth usage at home on my 1Mbps ADSL with many ISDN user's bandwidth consumption, it's pretty comparable. I don't see increased bandwidth usage as result of increased bandwidth capability, as it looks right now. The general assumption that the increase of average bandwidth also means increase in bandwidth consumption is not something I have seen documented anywhere.

The basic problem is, that the difference between the highest bandwidths and the lowest bandwidths is increasing, and websites are not only designed for high bandwidth users, but also for low bandwidth users.

There is no doubt that bandwidth grows, storage grows etc., but the question is - will there be much money to be earned - I would not be so sure. For instance - load testing. If your website will work well with low-bandwidth users having 50kbit/sec connections, and you want to serve 1,000 users at the same time having 10% utilization, you'll need 5Mbit/sec. That's easy to get, and as time goes by, bandwidth for such a site is easier to get. There will be some sites, however, that will require increased bandwidth - for instance television over IP operators.

I won't go into details with your stock choices - I have no clue if they are good or bad. But owning a stock just because the company is in a business that has a future, isn't always the best way to make money. It's about owning the right stock at the right time. And if your stock picks don't give you much ROI for the first 5 years, you probably should have owned some other stock in those years. It's about finding the right time to buy...
