It's an attitude, as simple as:

Watergate: Will "we" get rid of the criminal, or will he pull some "tricks" to stay in office?

Impeachment: Will "they" get enough material together to sink "our" beloved president?

Election 2000: Will "all the votes be counted", or will Bush "secure" the White House?

The general attitude defines who and what the left wing media is. The attitude is something they can deny, but can't possibly hide...

Re: "The big lie still being spread is that the media was somehow fond of Clinton."

>>> Seems so, when in fact media coverage of the Clinton years was - in aggregate - neutral to hostile, I would say. Occasionally quite sharp and negative.

>>> This seems to parallel an earlier canard (an earlier 'Big Lie', if you will) that the 'media' was actively hostile to the Vietnam War... when in fact, until very late in the game the vast bulk of the American media was very supportive of the war. Various Administration claims of successes were usually relayed uncritically and without examination... especially by smaller media outlets right up to the very end.

>>> Any quantitative measurement of media coverage throughout the '60s would have to show that.
