FR1,

Sounds like very sound advice. As they say, it is sometimes possible to predict what will come along, but almost never when.

If major new technologies come along and AMAT refuses to investigate, then I get worried.

Cary and I were just discussing the programmable logic industry and why he is so bullish on it. I asked him why the world's leading logic chip company (Intel) which is desperately seeking to restart the growth engine has not moved into the programmable logic arena. He posited that the industry may be too small, which is the same answer I got when I asked Katherine Derbyshire why AMAT hasn't invested in compound semiconductor equipment.

If you refuse to invest in the young and the small, then when do you invest? That is my question.
