About a month ago I was reading a scientific american article about 3D memory chips. The company was predicting they will have marketable product within a year (they claimed to have a working prototype). As I understood their technology, it would not be disruptive to the logic segment of industry, but it could breath a new life into old products. BTW, I've found that if you go back 10~20 years and see what was the most exciting technology/process/product you often get clues as to what will be the next whiz bang thing in a few years. Evolution is a spiral rather than a straight ladder.
