I KNEW you'd bite on that line!

but might does *not* make right.
Believe or not, Americans are quite well aware of that.
Although there are times when there is no substitute for a good army. Remember Herr Hitler? I think no one (at least no one in this country) would argue that Britain was on the side of the angels in that one. You did need at least enough to to hold on until the US was dragged into the European war by Herr Hitler's stupidity, though.

I rather doubt the British and US armies will find themselves facing each other. I would certainly hope not. British and US relations got off to a rocky start because of the revolution, but steadied in the last century. Now Britain is generally considered our best ally (although I think Canada is due honors here too).

The United States is a democracy because of Britain. All her American colonies that later became states had elected legislatures. That was copied from your British Parliament. We finally ended up with a somewhat different form of government (Presidential) than yours (Parliamentary) but still democratic.

Your country, while still fairly capitalistic, is more socialistic than is true of the US. OK, you veered left, we veered right. We're still on the same road.

I've been in your country and loved it. I've met many people of British origin here in the US also. My next door neighbor is from Britain. Good people.

So forget the war. You guys make better friends than enemies.

Be careful what you wish for.The Brits are VERY good at fighting. In a non-nuclear war, I know the Brits couldn't win, and I know that they couldn't invade us, but I am not sure that we could successful invade you either. (In fact, if the rest of Europe declined to support the US, England would actually have the advantage, in that Canada would make a good staging area for them, but our invasion would have to be from the sea.
