I might avoid a particular meat, for example no beef served if there was any Hindus at the party, but it
would be hard for me to avoid eating any meat for the sake of the vegetarians. And if vegans expect
everyone else to eat the same way then we should go to separate parties...

Then he needs to understand there are situations where some do not agree with this stipulation:
Thou shalt avoid gratuitous slams, and take some care to treat with respect, or at least some forbearance, what is sacred to others.
And the wide open internet is one of those situations.

The fact that someone considers something "sacred" places no obligation on anyone who thinks otherwise to treat whatever sacred or with respect.
