Mr. Truth,

You claim to be a pure fair trader. Is this true?

From a story on the topic.

The Commerce Department (news - web sites) determined in its investigation that Canada subsidizes its industry by charging low fees to log public lands and allows its producers to sell their lumber in the United States at below-market prices, an illegal practice known as dumping.

"While the final duty rates do not fully offset the amount of injury to the U.S. lumber industry, this decision substantiates the U.S. lumber industry's claim that the Canadian government subsidizes Canadian lumber mills," said Rusty Wood, U.S. Coalition for Fair Lumber Imports Chairman.

If Canada manipulates the price of lumber through government policy, then I believe the US has a right to correct that imbalance. No governement should provide any subsidy for any product which is a commidity if true globalization of world economies is to become a reality.

I hope every American citizen with a heart that beats is disgusted at how their government has set arbitrary rules for trade that will ultimately favour keeping Americans working for more money

Ever heard the saying "charity begins at home" ?

Dumping on any product eventually leads to monopolies and price controls which is very anti-consumer. No thanks.

Sam

The American public have fallen for a bunch of crap from a small but powerful special interest group. Brainwashed like a bunch of muslims. There are millions of potential home buyers in the states and because of the tariffs, the cost will render homes unattainable. Millions that will not be able to buy homes because of these greedy few.

This is not in the best interest of the American consumer. It is only in the interest of a select few. They are the ones lining their pockets at your expense.

Canada has a very efficient lumber technology and has Canada has spent billions on improving and upgrading it over the last decade.

The states has not.

The US is covering their lack of investment in this area as dumping which is not the case. Canada has been attacked every 5 years by the same bunch and we have always won in court. The tarrifs will be removed as always: in the mean time families are being uprooted/destroyed. The special interest groups are going to use the money made by these tariffs to buy our Canadian producers when they are on the ropes.

Thanks neighbour
