AMAT's Board of Directors Tech Omen
Irrational boards of directors were part of the reason for the bubble in tech stocks. Irrationally splitting stocks when earnings did not justify such stock pricing. Nothing has changed. The board of directors of Applied Materials voted to split their stock, even though the market cap of $41 billion exceeds global sales of all semiconductor-making equipment, which is only $28 billion.
This is an omen of a dismal future for techs. Applied Materials has a record of splitting their stock at multiyear highs in the tech market. Given this it looks like we will be headed sideways to down over the next 6 months.
