I will not pretend to have any real understanding of trade and such things as tariffs but lets say that US citizens could buy Canadian lumber cheaper than their own USA lumber and as a result could build homes for their families at less costs...this is good , correct? So your government comes along and decides that big business is losing out in this FREE trade deal and thinks that the only way to solve this problem in a favorable way for big lumber business is to force their own citizens to pay more for lumber with which they will build their homes. And as long as every one can blame the Canadians they will not even see that higher prices are due to their own government policies...I'm sure if I am wrong in my thinking here someone will correct me. you said..." And why was it ok For Canada, USA, Europe, Etc to cut down their forests when they required it and it is now wrong for others countries less advanced that us to do the same thing? IMO. It is not a greed problem it is a human error problem and no one country is to blame. As world resources dwindle humans start to realize that mistakes have been made in the past so we must make changes in the future...Mistakes are experience until we do it the second time and then it's stupidity. The lumber industry is not greedy, in this country and the USA the lumber industry is part of our capitalist system the system that is responsible for the advanced state of our countries and for our free and great life styles. You said..." The US doesn't need anything from Canada."... Don't be so sure. Canada's oil supply is larger than all of the arab states combined and if you keep talking like that we wont give you any. There is also a fair supply of fresh water and many other resources. Lorne
