Dave - That was a very interesting piece. Kind of vindicates our pursuit of the game all these years against the verbal onslaughts of being called "reprobates." The single year I decided to really test myself at the windows I wound up with a 58% net at a small midwestern track. But it was a LOT of work and very exhausting. This was before puters. I went from SA thinking I'd clean up against the hicks. Wrong! I suffered through two weeks of losing before discovering speed (as at Anita) mattered not a whit. It was all class, believe it or not, even at that cheap level. R

Dave, Great article. Of course, how many of us can lose $300,000 at the races without becoming emotional basket cases? <g> I would be willing to lay odds that the takeout, taxes and bad luck eventually take them all down, though there will be new, "successful" (for awhile) ones following their lead.
