Hi Jonathan
which appears to offer so much promise

Yes, it seems that when a new technology reaches the market and all the hopeful applications and potential markets of it are discussed there is a flush of investment. Then a combination of the reality of the markets and competition sets in and sobers everyone up. On top of all this are the macro economic swings...

I'll be watching the next new great technology with great interest and wiser eyes <g>.

Good luck with your purchases of AXTI and EMKR. It is my opinion that they were good buys, FWIW.

JF

"A compound interest in fiber optics"

redherring.com

and "The light brigade"

redherring.com

These articles also appear in the April print edition of Red Herring. The first is about the potential of InP for integrating optical components on a chip - 'integrated photonic circuits' - and the second is about a particular company (Infinera) pursuing this.

What's so promising is that the material also makes possible the large-scale integration of components like lasers, detectors, passive waveguides, and electronics onto the same chip.

Promising - there's that word again. <g>
