Zombie,
It's an old tradition.
Worshiping the raised undead or formerly dead actually goes by the name of golem. ( I said Zombie since most people don't know what a golem is. Zombies were never truly dead, I think, and are of another tradition)

Of the various Gods or false-Gods that could be worshiped this is the worst.
"For the Lord, whose name is jealous, is a jealous God."—Exodus 34:14. No God gets jealous if there aren't other Gods to be jealous of, the idea that Western religion started as monotheist is an error. Worshiping a rival God is a serious matter but the possibility of conversion and forgiveness is always there.

A false God is a person pretending to be a God. The worshiper is foolish.

A golem is the raised dead or a creature formed directly from the the "clay" (raw materials). This is the most serious deviation since the creature has no spark of the spirit. To worship someone raised from the dead is the most serious of breaks with the covenent.
