Well, some people profess perfect clarity on the matter. I think it helps to read Debka regularly.

I understand your point, Win. But, as for me, I've read so much that was new to me, I've still not taken the time to try to sort it all out. Just one item. Bush announces a proposal to double US foreign aid by 04, but with certain very specific conditions. Had I read that without reading a couple of articles in the recent FA, I would have scorned that as the usual Bush, absent minded imperialism. Now, I'm having to consider that it might possibly be something worth thinking about. Lots of qualifiers there on my part. But that's a new direction for my qualifiers.

I remain, however, very disturbed by the American triumphalism of the moment, the kind of mood in which the leadership just can't wait to get into another war.
