Turn on those pumps Ah, that would be grinders and due to advances in technology in Canada, starting to become economic at today's oil prices if they hold.

Hi enigma. You said..." lorne, I, really, think that each nation should be unto its own up to a point. I do not know, but is the lumber industry not also run by large business in Canada? "...

I'm not real sure about this but I think some of the pulp industries here are owned by US interests, So sure I think the lumber industry is run by big business.

I guess one of the points that I was trying to make is that as the more advanced nations such as ours evolved we made mistakes, at the time we did not realize we were making mistakes but now we know there is a better way of doing things. But its not an easy thing to convince other less advanced nations that they should do as we say and not do as we did. IMO if countries like Brazil did not have a market for their rain forest trees they would not be cutting them. And if their population did not require cleared land for live stock that they sell to us they would not be burning the jungle. Vicious circle.

You said..." I did not know about the large oil supply you have in Canada. Where is it?? Are you guys hiding it?? :^) Turn on those pumps. I would much more rather buy oil from Canada, than those militant Arab nations."....

Last OCT. or NOV. there was a meeting by some big oil people from Canada and the USA. Think it was in Texas. Heard it mentioned only once on the news.

Here is a web site for the Alberta Tar Sands.
Once the infrastructure is in place...Mega bucks...maybe then we can tell the arabs to jam it.

According to Petroleum Economist, "Although tar sands occur in more than 70 countries, the bulk is found in Canada in four regions: Athabasca, Wabasca, Cold Lake, Peace River; together covering an area of some 77,000 km2".(1) In fact, the reserve considered to be technically recoverable is estimated at 280-300 Gb (billions of barrels), larger than the Saudi Arabia oil reserves estimated at 240 Gb. The total reserves for Alberta, including oil not recoverable using current technology, are estimated at 1,700-2,500 Gb.
