.. '"No Way We Could Do It," Say Leaders of Wealthy Nations '

I really wonder to what extent the vaunted competitiveness of the US is a factor in securing the current seigneurage advantage of the USD, as opposed to say the level of militarism combined with the sheer weight of established economic power .... certainly the yellow pine lobby would not now be attacking this province if they found themselves in as competitive a position as they would like ... but then i guess there are no bounds to the greed of the mighty

To blame all other nations for the USD bubble is to miss most of the story, imho ... much of it is a flywheel momo effect, as each currency experiences 'troubles' in relation to that of the seat of overwhelming power, it adds to the mystique and overvaluation of the greenback .... the trend becomes a force in itself, carrying far beyond the sum of individual reasons that got it started .... remember the strong yen a few years back - there were reasons for the start of that trend, but no good reason why it went so far, and when the tide turned it ran hard the other way
