This is so primitive, as cooking conversation goes, that I should be embarrassed.

The older I get the more I appreciate quality foods prepared simply. The lazier I get, the more I appreciate that, too. Many years ago when I gave up salt, I realized how good food tasted. I still love complex dishes--Indian for lunch yesterday--but that's what restaurants are for. Roasted vegetables are just marvelous. I've started juicing them, too. And smooshing fruit and soy milk or tofu in a blender. Lovely.

I could smell your chicken and veggies discussion. They sound fabulous!

I gave one of my monthly dinner parties on Saturday night and did a French stewed chicken and vegetable recipe, served with a thick gravy (made from the wine in which the chicken was stewed, with some veggies to thicken it) and LOTS of homemade buttermilk biscuits. And a three-layer cake with raspberry filling, frosted with chocolate buttercream.

All diet food. ;-(
