Zeev,

For your information I grew up on a farm and the products, mostly small grains, were only sold when cash was needed.

I understand the CB's problem with gold and if their experiment with fiat currencies is going to succeed there can not be a competitive alternative.

What I think we are observing today is countries have learned enough about how the system works and can manipulate their currencies to benefit the economies of their countries. IMO, countries are deflating their currencies which causes the US headaches trying to compete economically with products we produce here. This leaves the US vulnerable as these countries can take their fiat based investments in the US home and cause some tough love and economic violence as Mike would say. We have no savings to fall back on today ... citizen, corporate or government - none - zip - zero.

All we need is for Japan, China or any other lender country to start selling and our interest rates would go through the roof and kill economic activity in the US. Also, one of these days/years China could be the consumer of choice and the US consumer would be considered not very important in the scheme of things. We need to get our house in order before this happens.
