Your pasta sauce is similar to what I used to make. Try a splash of oloroso sherry for the wine. That's my secret ingredient.

I use 5 Brothers tomato and basil sauce. It's very different from what you make. It's very fresh in taste and texture, not the five hours over a hot stove type of sauce. I just checked on the net because I wasn't sure of how many brothers there were and it looks like it's been taken over by the Bertolli label.

I think if you try some of the newer sauces you'll find something you'll like. Prepared foods are getting better. Prego used to make a low sodium sauce that I liked but I can't find it any more.
