Thanks for the sharelynx url, pretty cool collection.
Found a few nuggets there, it's a great place to waste time!

Gold Stocks 101

My post covers a lot of ground in succint words. People love it. Now what is this gibberish you wrote back? Since when does a moral issue have to do with anything. Just follow the HUI index, and everything will be OK.

<<17) Pure gold 24K metal is not the best way to sell gold if you want to make ALOT money in gold per >>

Maybe, but one should mention gold IC bonding wire. Sure, just as the "mark-up" over spot for jewelry includes the jewelers labor, the high labor, precision, and technology costs are included in the cost of the finely extruded tiny gold wire. Purity & precision of dia & or alloy are the key factor in the bonding wire while it is fashion in the jewelers trade.

Remember a couple of years ago when I posted the news story about gold bonding wire being stolen from INTC? If I remember correctly & "the rules" still hold true, the cost of the bonding wire can run anywhere from 3-30X spot depending on point time within semi-conductor cycle, lead time, order size, and other factors... .

Here's a link which speaks a bit more about(and sells) 99.999 pure bonding wire:

tising.es

Here's a better one that offers options of alloy & speaks to dia.
kns.com
click "Fusing Current vs.Wire Diameter" & "Electrical Resistance vs. Wire Diameter" for interesting pop-up windows

You'll notice even the "least pure" gold alloy is still greater than 99% gold:
kns.com
while the "most pure" far surpass the "least pure" with non-gold elements running at <100 ppm.

See the (magnified)pretty pictures of the bonds of the gold wire at above. Also interesting are the data sheets on all their products (in PDF)

Ball bonding is a greatly fun job when everything is running just right & you are using(quality) gold wire & the other components that the wire runs between are also good quality. It is a thing of beauty.

Sorry, should also mention that the best bonding wire when I chased (& or "used") bonding wire were *and I suspect still are) Swiss made and if the Swiss Fr. is strong against your currency the day you make the deal or take delivery - you might be screwed.
