That's the right quote. Before registering for the service I wandered Europe and the Middle East, spending 6 weeks in a Kibbutz in Israel, which was socialist and had that quote.

It was fun for a 17 yr old kid, spending 16 hrs/day moving 100lb bags of oranges, harvesting bananas while dodging land mines (Haifa), welding, treating chickens, running the kitchen. All for $5 a week.
Not being Jewish I thought was the reason I didn't see the rationale other than being simply a form of national service to help Israel.

A sidelight, none who were married when they arrived stayed that way... It was certainly "social", with a lot of social activity for a young man, if you know what I mean, and I'm sure you do.
I don't see how Israel can be a stable country, and I'm against US military support of any of M.E. countries, they have to figure out their problems on their own, we sure as hell don't have the answers.

Socialism seemed to work for them in an emergency, but not as a political structure, imo.

It all works on paper... or in La La land.
