Well, that's definitely something to keep in mind.
Cut back on foreign and domestic hand-outs, and then make DOD focus on actual threats, and taxes could be cut in half. The resulting economic boom would make the internet boom seem like a flash in the pan.

That said, these inefficiencies are less of a serious problem to me than the corruption, disinformation and lack of morals that sees it as completely acceptable to gain tremendous profit from war effort.

What follows is that encouragement toward war emerges from everyone who profits directly or indirectly, even while piously claiming patriotism, but profiting from fear.
This spurs arguments for everything from foreign training of terrorists to buying useless weapons.

The damage to the US isn't only taxes, its creating ill-will and "blowback" worldwide.
