Spending money does lots of damage, domestically and abroad.
Especially that which is unaccountable.
We should just stop for a year, let everyone whine, and find something useful to do.

I am struck by statements in the Peruvian conference yesterday by locals. When asked by the reporter what he thought about Bush's visit, one local said, "well, that depends on what he brings! It doesn't sound like he'll bring much!".

When the hell did the US become the world's patsy?
And here we have the current reigning idiot offering giveaways to every country with a beef.
Did you vote to give money to Peru?
I sure didn't, and doubt anyone else did.
Any taxpayer, that is.

This is simply opportunism and backroom dealmaking.
I wish we could follow the money, but we can't, and it's guaranteed to be corrupt.

Georgie boy should be impeached, before he does any more damage.

Re: Blistfully ignore the 90% of the Federal Budget that's doing just as much damage and accomplishing nothing.

I am shocked at how utterly naive you are about how the world works. When the U.S. Government puts money into infrastructure or social programs, it recycles through the U.S. economy. When the War Rackets Department gets its greedy, grasping hands on it, it gets siphoned off into all sorts of nifty little tax havens for the revolving door elite who run the Carlyle Group, Lockheed, Boeing and the other defense contractors. Large chunks of that money are ending up in off shore tax heaven, thanks to Al Greenspan's absolutely abysmal enforcement efforts to prevent this fleecing of the American public. Your naivete about how all this works is simply breathtaking. Or are you on the take, and simply dissembling here in order to sell the Mal-administration's lies to the public?
