It's not the money, imo, that motivates these young people to suicide, it is despair I agree with the first half of that, but not the second. You're still thinking like an American, not an Arab. It's not just the money, it's the honor -- becoming a martyr brings enormous honor to the martyr's family, and family honor is tremendously important among Arabs. The young Palestinians have been raised from the cradle to hate Jews and seek vengeance, even before this last war began, which of course increased the hatred. Suicide bombers do not act as individuals, they are trained military personnel. The young bombers are volunteering to become the heroes of Palestine. They are like the kamikaze pilots of WWII. Do you think that the kamikazes killed themselves out of desperation?
