It's the dogged belief in specific manifestations of (B) that are at issue.

By manifestations, do you mean specific religious tenets, Karen? I think the issue that constantly arises here begins simply with belief in a deity (and which pits believers against atheists).

I have to go out for a while, but will respond later to your clarification of "manifestations."
