Yes. Now Radio Shack would be the corporation with the largest market cap in the U.S. The TRS-2K would dominate the desktop. We would all have to program with a net-enabled TRS-DOS, which connects over low-bandwidth FM radio waves to your local Radio Shack store. It would run on batteries and you would have to replace them with Radio Shack batteries every day or two. Even casual computer users would have a closet full of hundreds of Radio Shack batteries.

Just imagining a TRS-80-based computer monopoly almost makes me appreciate how restrained Microsoft has been in abusing its awesome monopoly power. Sure, they've broken a few laws and illegally crushed a few competitors and put a dampening funk on real technological innovation, but at least they're not Radio Shack. Or AOL.
