RE:I can tell you that people still prejudge folks based on color in this country.

I agree, as they do in the rest of the world too. I also agree that racial prejudice does exist, in all races. We'll probably never get rid of it. The best we can do is to try not to act on those pre-conceived prejudices to discriminate against people or even worse, in some cases, physically attack them. Just last week there was a hate crime committed close to where I live. Twelve young blacks beat up a white guy severely, just because of the color of his skin. This is not a unique American phenomenon, Also, I don't believe anyone who says they have no thoughts of race when they meet people of different origins. Personally, I like to see different people, it would be a boring world if we were all the same.

RE: I'm so pleased to see an African American woman finally won for Best Actress after seventy-four frickin' years."

I guess it just goes to show how much racism exists in that supposedly ultra-liberal place called Hollywood. There was a certain amount of irony that Halle Berry was being applauded by the same people whom she was calling racist, After all it is the in-crowd at Hollywood who have kept a black woman from receiving an Oscar for all those years even when there have been several black actresses made very popular and rich, for that matter, by the general populace of the United States. Maybe, Hollywood is finally catching up with the rest of the country.
