Even changing the location of these sites constitutes harrassment and pollution of public information -- without actual copies of the data the content is subject to pollution as well. I recall an incident during the election recount when several sites disappeared overnight after being mentioned on air. The problem here is that if I can think of ways to curtail these sites (and I can with even moderate resources), I'm sure others can also, and will be tempted to do in this rancorous partisan amoral environment. Hopefully, there are enough who are concerned and capable enough to prevent the changing of history. We've already seen at the highest levels the hiding of all presidential papers going back 20 years, even including Clinton papers. Junior Bush is even concerned enough about his governor papers to go to extreme lengths to try to keep them out of public scrutiny, either because they show names and collusion, or some other as-yet unidentified reason. Such things as a book detailing the attempted takeover of the White House with General Butler are gradually but thoroughly being removed from the public domain. Such items are either (a)not of interest except to such a small paranoid fringe goofball minority as to make their publication worthless, or (b)critical enough of those with backroom power to cause their gradual elimination from the public debate. An example, however, of the popularity of this "goofball minority" is Michael Moore's book "Stupid White Men", which was due to come out 9/11, and was at first recalled, said to be of no interest any more, was going to be "pulped", i.e. destroyed. When Moore said to heck with his publisher, he wasn't going to rewrite it, they eventually relented last week and it's already #3 on the Best Seller list. The public smells a problem somewhere, and will read books and websites that don't hold back punches, provide actual documentation, and asks real questions. The question Moore asked at a Commonwealth forum was this, "why was only Bin Laden's jet the only private jet in the United States allowed to fly between 9/11 and 9/15." And so forth ...
