wbmw, >Hammer unit volumes only 50% by late 2004?

It does say "great majority of our revenues", about Hammer family processors. They still make a lot of Athlon-Durons for a low price? And, maybe they're getting a bit more conservative as Jerry fades away?

it pays to look at amd roadmap. Athlon production is as market demands so if there would be no demand for athlon then amd would switch to hammer.
Of course, ramp of p4 was not faster than that and yet intel claims it to be fastest ramp ever. :-))
What is the % of p4 right now?

Wanna,

This is how I see it; remember the 80s style of the Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird and the Chevy Camaro? Throughout the 80s and 90s, the basic style stayed the same with a few "improvements". This happened b/c there was no "competitive" offering at a "similiar" price point. While other manufacturers, for instance Nissan 300ZX, had sports cars that looked nice and performed well, their price was too much. Therefore, Ford and GM bled every dollar they could from those products until they no longer became competitive.

It appears that AMD is going to try to bleed every dollar out of the Athlon while Hammer slowly ramps up. There is only one thing that Intel can do; allocate more resources to rapidly increase the speed of their uP. Head AMD off at the pass. Intel must up the ante.
