Yousef
you have a problem concentrating even on a simple thing. You know, a bit about components of costs <gggggg>
But I like your example about the tree, it does illustrate very well why amd is going after minimum market share at the expense of short term gains <ggggggg>

Yousef, I thank you for demonstration of your analytical
skills and accuracy:

"1) Two men buy apple trees for same price ($xxx)"

Should'n you continue to say that "Little Man" bought
2 trees, and "Big man" bought 13? Makes a bit of
difference, don't you think?
intel.com

"2) "Little Man's" tree produces 5 ... "Big Man's" produces 50. 3) Market only needs 40 apples"

40 apples is about right. However, a little correction
is in order. The "Little Man" makes and
sells 8 apples and says that market does not buy any more,
and "Big Man" cannot produce even 32 apples claiming an
unsatisfied demand for good big apples...

"4) Guess who makes money (recovers cost of tree + profit)"
Profits? Concerning the cost of trees see above #1, and
about "profits, do you mean "formal profits"?
Surely the stock option bonuses do not count, eh?
Of course, those 4 BILLION $dollars$ per year in unaccounted
salary compensations are not a formal salary, but
weren't people working with these bonuses in mind, and
would walk away if there were none promised?

"5) Guess who loses money (Has "air supply" cutoff <ggg>)"
Have not heard anything about shortages of air supply
or electricity in Austin or Dresden so far...

I'll leave it for your homework to calculate average
yields per tree and other useful characteristics.

- Ali

P.S. A teaching career is obviously not for you either. But
thanks for your "lesson" anyway <ggg>

2) "Little Man's" tree produces 5 ... "Big Man's" produces 50.

When teaching, it is best to remember the facts <ggg>.

2) "Little Man's" tree produces 5 good apples ... "Big Man's" produces 50 rotten apples that taste bad.

Neil.
