If Israel had seen that that was what Arafat was using them for, they'd have been glad to give him more. Unfortunately, the weapons that Israel gave to the Palestinians have been turned right back on Israel. Z, I find it hard to believe that Israeli intelligence did not know who Arafat was before handing over those weapons to him after the Oslo accord. Israel would not have given him one rifle if they thought he was in league with the terrorists. I suspect Arafat has changed his stripes significantly since that agreement was signed, or his current behavior is reflective of the bad blood between him and Sharon. ted

Z, <The man is the father of international terrorism.> He's no more the father of international terrorism than any one person in history has been the father of evil itself. Like I said in a later post, I don't doubt that Arafat helped to bring about this mess. In fact, that notion only supports my point even more. What Arafat helped to foster in the past has grown so out-of-control that even if he were to shout "No more!" with 100% integrity, it would hardly make a dent in the violence. It is my belief that the terrorist groups in Palestine have a Mafia-like grip on the people they claim they are fighting for. And I believe they control Arafat just as much as they control domestic opinion. Tenchusatsu EDIT: I'd be happy to see links to articles that prove my opinion wrong.
