I wouldn't consider myself part of the religious right but I am against legalized abortion.

But that really wasn't my point. I still don't see how your post made sense even if it is assumed that the religious right controls the agenda of conservatives and/or the Republican party on these issues. I don't see who the sentance "I am under no obligation to consider consider the sensibilities of someone else's religious prejudices. Period" leads to any specific opinion on abortion or any other controversial issue. The two ideas are not logically connected no matter what we assume about the religious right. If being against abortion is a "religious prejudice" then saying that you don't have to consider religious predjudices doesn't say anything about whether you actually will consider them, or what your opinion of them will be after you consider them.
