i'm sorry if i left you with the impression that i tolerate any sort of illegal immigration. i was merely trying to point out that being a legal immigrant who works is not in and of itself enough to be a benefit to our society. it's a good start, but not enough.

in 1996 clinton relentlessly pushed for the naturalization of immigrants because he knew they would vote democratic and improve his election chances. the united states naturalized over one million immigrants in the period ending september 30, 1996. clinton's cronies pushed so hard that 80,000 of the immigrants slipped by with criminal records. in the following two years after the election was sealed in clinton's favor, the naturalization of immigrants dropped to half the levels of 1996 and haven't surpassed it since.
